KEN VENNETTE spent most of his life in rural upstate New York, working in the building trades as a carpenter / cabinetmaker. He has a Master's degree in English, specializing in Creative Non-Fiction, from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. He is recently retired from Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Johnstown, NY, where he served as Assistant Professor of English and Humanities and Humanities Division Chair. Now he does whatever the hell he wants.

The babysitter’s tongue. Charity’s uselessness. Rock in the field; skulls on the chopping block. Scurf, spit-shines, and rotgut wine. What happens when there are too many cats on the farm, when Grandma’s boyfriend has too much to drink, when your mother marries a sadistic sociopath. These stones and others strew the path of a boy growing up in rural New York. What is there to say? Illegitimi non carborundum
